The Coalition to Preserve General Assistance

March 1, 2019

The attacks against General Assistance have brought over 150 statewide organizations together to advocate against HB 33, and for the preservation of the General Assistance program in its current state.

General Assistance is a program proven to help people get through a crisis period, such as waiting for federal aid, by providing a small amount of financial assistance that recipients can use to pay for co-pays for medications, to contribute toward rent or utility bills, or to buy necessities like a winter coat or personal care items like deodorant.

The Coalition to Preserve General Assistance calls on lawmakers to use their positions in the state legislature support Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable residents by voting against HB 33 and supporting the General Assistance program.
