Senate Bill 1137
Affordable Health Insurance for 250,000 Pennsylvanians
Waiting for Senate action is a House-passed bill that would launch Access to Basic Care (ABC), a private health insurance plan in which monthly premiums would vary based on ability to pay. By opening access to primary care physicians, preventive care, and chronic disease management, ABC would reduce costs across the health care system.
House Bill 2005
Consumer Oriented Health Insurance Reform
Also waiting for Senate action is a House-passed bill that would change how insurers operate in Pennsylvania. If passed, this law would end insurance company discrimination against people who are sick, stabilize premium costs for small businesses, limit insurance company profit/overhead to 15 percent of revenue, and make it easier for consumers to shop for the best deal when buying health insurance.
