There's a lot of misinformation floating around about the new health care law, especially what it means for seniors. At this workshop, we'll give you the straight facts: The new health care law doesn't have a lot of big changes for people on Medicare, and the changes it does bring are good ones. They include a free annual checkup every year and free diagnostic tests like mammograms and colonoscopies. And people not yet on Medicare can be confident that the program is on firmer ground now and will be there when you need it.
Health Care Reform has been a major topic in the news in the past couple of years, but that's nothing new in U.S. history. People have been talking about reforming the health care system since Abigail Adams took her children to be inoculated against smallpox in the 1770s. The 20th century saw one reform plan after another proposed, modified, rejected, or in a few cases even passed into law. We'll examine the different 20th century proposals as precursors for the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
