As we speak, over 150 advocates are on their way to the Capitol to tell lawmakers it’s time to take the money to Cover the Commonwealth, and bring jobs and health care coverage to Pennsylvania families.
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, Pennsylvania is set to receive $43 billion to extend health care coverage to 700,000 people who are uninsured today. That is, unless state lawmakers get in the way. We know where Governor Corbett stands: against us, and against expanding coverage.
But he doesn’t get the final say this time. The legislature does, and they can move to accept these new funds and the expansion of Medicaid in their budget process, which is just getting underway.
That’s why we’re in Harrisburg today — to kick off the “Cover the Commonwealth” campaign and send the message to all legislators that it is unacceptable to leave these funds on the table that could be used to invest in the health of our economy and our families.
Can’t be there with us? No problem. You can email your legislators right now. We’ve got a sample template loaded up for you to add your 2 cents in and send it off. Let’s flood their email boxes and keep their phones buzzing today.
