Social Security & Health Care Reform: What Seniors Need to Know

Location:
The Salvation Army, 1022 Liberty Street, Erie, PA 16502
September 14, 2010 - 12:30pm

The Pennsylvania Health Access Network and the Alliance for Retired Americans are teaming up to talk with seniors about two of the most important issues to folks at or approaching retirement age: Social Security and Medicare. The ARA has been a great coalition partner and has worked alongside PHAN to fight for meaningful health care reform that protects consumers, reigns in costs, expands access to quality care and strengthens Medicare. In addition to their efforts to meaningful health reform, the ARA has been a staunch advocate for protecting Social Security from any attempts at privatizing the system, cutting benefits or raising the retirement age and has been organizing public education events to get the word out to seniors.

PHAN has been organizing similar events to talk about how seniors will benefit from health care reform and to debunk a lot of the well-funded smears about reform, so we’ve decided to combine our efforts and hold joint events on both topics. Join us for an event in your community, or contact Erin Gill-Ninehouser, the Western PA PHAN Organizer (egill@pahealthaccess.org or 412-512-9225) to schedule one today!

Participants are encouraged to bring lots of questions and are welcome to share their experiences and concerns on health care issues. Refreshments will be provided and some topics to be covered in-depth include:

Links to some of the materials are included above; contact Erin to request hard-copies in advance of the event in your area. Please help us get the word out about these events! Hope to see you there!
