Corbett Transition Plan Would End adultBasic

In a news report today, a key member of Governor-elect Tom Corbett's transition team said the incoming administration would allow the state's adultBasic health insurance program to end and, with it, affordable health coverage for nearly 42,000 Pennsylvanians.

The plan calls for “Special Care,” an existing program operated by the state’s four Blue Cross plans, being offered as an option to those who lose their insurance.

Health Reform Milestone: Consumer Protections Go Into Effect Today

Today marks a milestone in the long road to reforming the nation's health care system, as several important consumer protections will take effect on or after this date. No longer will insurance companies be able to deny coverage to children with pre-existing conditions, set annual or lifetime benefit limits, or cancel health policies when you get sick.
