In a ruling last week, Judge Christopher Conner of Pennsylvania’s Middle District Court ruled that the personal responsibility provision of the Affordable Care Act--the requirement that individuals purchase health insurance by 2014 when the law is fully implemented--is unconstitutional. Judge Conner was appointed to the bench by George W. Bush in 2002.

70 Organizations Ask Lawmakers to Oppose HB 42, Other Efforts to Prevent Implementation of Affordable Care Act

On February 4, the Pennsylvania Health Access Network, along with more than 70 other organizations, sent a letter to members of the Pennsylvania House Health Committee, asking them to oppose House Bill 42.

PA Lawmakers Put Partisan Politics Before Jobs, People’s Lives

Not to be left out of the controversy, some PA legislators have jumped on the eager-to-repeal health care bandwagon by introducing a bill in the House invalidating the individual mandate provision of the Affordable Care Act. Rather than tackle problems like unemployment and putting Pennsylvanians back to work, the opposition in Harrisburg is working to stop implementation of the Affordable Care Act and block all the critical protections it brings to Pennsylvania families.
