What Percentage of Full-Time Pa. Workers Receive Employer-Provided Health Plans from Small Businesses and Larger Firms?
The Keystone Research Center's Pennsylvania Policy Blog analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data on the number of Pennsylvania workers who receive employer-provided health care coverage. The graph below shows the percentages of full-time Pennsylvania workers receiving health care coverage from small business employers (less than 25 employees) and larger firms (25 or more employees). Compared to the nation, Pennsylvania does better on both fronts. But the significant difference between the share of employees who are insured by a larger employer and those who are insured by a small business is a major reason why federal health care reform is needed in Pennsylvania and the nation.
