Pennsylvania Becoming an Island of the Uninsured
The evidence is beginning to pile up showing just how much Pennsylvania is losing by failing to expand Medicaid under the Afforadble Care Act. Pennsylvania stands to lose $37.8 billion in federal funding -- that could be creating jobs and protecting the health of rural and community hospitals, not to mention cover the hundreds of thousands of workers currently caught in the coverage gap -- over the next decade.
That is unacceptable. So is the fact that our federal tax dollars, paid by the very workers who are now blocked from getting coverage as Governor Corbett continues to delay action, are going to every state surrounding us. You can see the positive impact that Medicaid Expansion has already had on our neighboring states. Without action, Pennsylvania will become an island of the uninsured.
