Join the March for Health Reform
Recently, the health care reform community said goodbye to a tireless advocate. Melanie Shouse lost a long battle with breast cancer after missing out on critical treatment because she, like thousands of others, could not find affordable health insurance. Melanie did everything she could to fight for health care, not just for herself, but for all of us. It was a long road for Melanie, but she never gave up.
On Wednesday, February 17, Pennsylvania health reform advocates - including members of the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (PHAN) - will begin a weeklong march from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C. in honor of Melanie, carrying her message to Congress that now is the time to finish the job on health care reform.
"The March to the Finish Line for Melanie" will start with a noon rally on Wednesday, February 17 at the Mother Bethel AME Church, 419 S. 6th Street, Philadelphia. The march will proceed through University City and Southwest Philadelphia, ending the first day with a vigil at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park. The group will hold rallies in Wilmington and Baltimore and host meet-ups for local residents in small towns along the way. Please join us.
Find more details on PHAN's page dedicated to the march.
Without health reform, more people will continue to join the ranks of the uninsured every single day. We've already seen that the cost of doing nothing is far too great - we need change and we need it now!
So join us for all or part of our weeklong walk from Wednesday, Februrary 17 to Wednesday, February 24. We will be marching for a week straight and will need your support and energy to keep us going! Even if you can't go the whole way, you can check out the list of local events and head out to rally for reform for the afternoon.
Thank you for support every step of the way.
