Erie Times-News to Senate Republicans: “It’s time to get this done!”
In a June 3rd editorial, the Erie Times-News told the Republican leadership of the Pennsylvania Senate to "partner with Rendell and the state House, which has already passed the Access to Basic Care program, and enter serious discussion to make this happen."
"We think Access to Basic Care is a good starting point for health care reform. It's time for Rendell, House Democrats and Senate Republicans to put aside their political differences and work toward doing what is best for uninsured Pennsylvanians and everyone else. Consider the stakes: more than 10,000 Erie County adults are uninsured. Next door, about 9,000 Crawford County residents don't have health insurance. At least 700,000 Pennsyvlanians don't have health insurance."
The editorial also praised Access to Basic Care, which is contained in Senate Bill 1137, for offering a helping hand to small business owners that employ fewer than 50 people.
